Techniques are some of the more advanced attacks and abilities that Bayonetta and other characters can perform in battle. They provide both utility in situations, as well as straight-up damage, or a mixture of both. Most of Bayonetta's techniques can be purchased from The Gates of Hell (or from the skills menu in the case of Bayonetta 3), however, some will be unlocked for free as the story mode progresses in both games.
In Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, Techniques can be performed at all times regardless of which weapon Bayonetta is wielding, though the technique itself may change to match the weapon's themes. Bayonetta 3 makes Techniques specific to each weapon.
If you are looking for a list of weapon-specific combos, they are listed on the Combo Attacks page.
